I have had a Google Alert for “Fiona Apple New Music” set up for at least three years, and in honor of the effing fantastic news that she will be releasing new songs “in coming weeks”, here is a recording of her 1997 MTV speech. This was my senior quote in the yearbook. I had like 12 Fiona Apple posters hanging up in my room throughout high school; most of them are still there. My favorite artist of all time ever; for better or for worse her music has shaped my life more than anyone else.
